Before you start entering employee payroll information there are a number of steps, which must first be completed.
Step 1 - Maintenance of users
Once you have installed the payroll system you need to provide yourself with access to the payroll options. To do this, access the Maintenance of users option and click on the Security tab. Click on the Payroll icon and then click on the box to the left of each payroll option. This will provide you with access to every option within the Payroll module. Once you have completed the set-up, click on the check mark on the navigator bar to accept the entries.
Exit the software and re-enter. This step is necessary to register the changes you have just made in the Maintenance of users option.
Step 2 - Create payroll files
Go to the Payroll module and access the Create payroll files option, which is located under the Procedures button. This option is used to create the files that are required by the payroll system in order to function correctly.
This option should only be executed once, when you are first installing the payroll system. If the file creation process is executed a second time, all payroll data will be lost.
Once these steps have been completed the payroll module is ready to be used.
